The celebs love the ponytail

If there was one look that dominated the catwalks this spring/summer it was the ponytail. A chic stylish pony was seen at the autumn/winter shows of Versus, Jonathan Saunders, Amanda Wakely, Louis Vuitton, Valentino, Prada, Hermès, Emanuel Ungaro and Guci to name but a few.
And it is not just the catwalks where ponytails were seen. A number of celebs have been catching onto the trend early with Emma Roberts, Kim Kardashian and Rebecca Ferguson all showcasing the look.
The great thing about a ponytail is that it is really versatile, with loads of different variations on the theme going down the catwalk. The autumn/winter shows had sleek, sporty ponytails, and softer prettier looks, with models wearing thin black hair bands over centre-partings and loose tendrils at the ear. There were even dominatrix style ponytails at the Ungaro show, where models had super-tight, super slicked back hair, all tied with thick black bands. But it was at Gucci that the perfect night time look was showcased – there the girls had a side parting with a super sleek low pony.
There is a perfect ponytail to suit all hair styles and tastes and if you need longer hair you can even buy fake ponytails to get the look.
What’s more, it is really easy to do yourself because, unlike some up-dos where you have to spend hours pinning it up, the ponytail is really easy to achieve. To get the look you just need to wash and dry your hair and then tie it up. However, you can get a really sleek look by using your hair straighteners to make the hair super straight, which is perfect for getting the dominatrix style seen at Ungaro and the sleek sporty styles seen at Amanda Wakeley, Versus and Louis Vuitton. By using your ghd hair straighteners you can make sure that the look is super sleek and smooth.
However, for a more romantic look you could use your ghd hair straightener to make soft curls and tendrils which will be a softer style and a little less sleek and tight so perfect if the dominatrix look isn’t for you.
