The Threat of Malware is Everywhere

Spyware, viruses and other kinds of malicious code are everywhere you look. While you work to download everything legally, in spite of the temptation to do otherwise, sometimes even legal downloads have nasty attachments tacked onto them. You want something great, but you don’t want to lose your computer for it. Even having to go through the messy and annoying virus removal process is a bit of a pain. Unfortunately, there isn’t a lot you can do to alleviate the threat of malware because it really is everywhere. And if it gets into your computer, it can wreak all kinds of harm. Full Post…

Disney XD Launching MARVEL UNIVERSE Block on April 1

There’s been a strong Marvel presence on Disney XD for years now, and the network is formalizing the relationship as of April 1, with the debut of the Sunday “Marvel Universe” programming block.

The April 1 launch will be highlighted by the series premiere of the animated series, first announced in 2010. Current series will also be a part of the lineup, along with “exclusive Marvel content, including new animated short-form series, and live-action interstitials.” The second season premiere of , which wrapped its first season in June 2011, remains currently unscheduled, according to a Disney spokesperson.

“Marvel Universe block is an incredible animated ride filled with fantastic action and adventure,” said Jeph Loeb, head of Marvel TV, in a press release.

DVD Review – Leigh Hart’s Mysterious Planet, Season 1

When I got my DVD review lists for December, I had a tough time picking them as there were some great ones. But this DVD caught my eye as Leigh Hart is pretty funny as his character ‘That Guy’, and with this show being about world mysteries, I thought it could be pretty interesting. Boy was I wrong! This was a brain numbingly hard show to sit through and watch as the jokes felt both try hard and verging on offensive. And I’m not talking about Sacha Baron Cohen cleverly offensive funny either.  Avoid like the plague!

The Man Within My Head

It’s difficult for an American to read Graham Greene without feeling insufficiently skeptical of the world. Compared to his world-weary Brits, we’re such Pollyannas! We keep believing, more or less, in our families and our friends and even, fitfully, our country. Almost as though we’re constitutionally resistant to disenchantment, we’re cheerfully undefended against the countless layers of darkness that were Greene’s chosen realm to dwell in and write about. That’s why it’s particularly enlightening, and only somewhat vexing, to read about Greene from a lifelong devotee whose background is both British and American.

Movie Review: In a Season of Blockbusters, Don’t Overlook the Silent Artist

Review in a Hurry: It seems counter-intuitive that in this day and age, one of the biggest crowd-pleasers of the season would be a silent movie. Yet Michel Hazanavicius‘ tale of a fictional silent-movie star dealing with the prospect of his own obsolescence, done in a style most thought was itself obsolete, is a real charmer. It’s not especially deep or profound—just (very) good old-fashioned fun.

MORE: Julianne More Vs. Tina Fey: Who does the better Sarah Palin?

The Bigger Picture: Critics who would dismiss The Artist as a mere novelty flick are both right and wrong. I
